Returnwell is in active development. This policy applies from its public launch and describes how the app handles data.

Returnwell is a Shopify app from Advira that helps you run returns and exchanges, with a hosted return portal, approvals, and refunds on Shopify's rails. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, how it is stored, and the choices you have.
What Returnwell accesses
To do its job, Returnwell reads the following from your Shopify store through the Admin API:
- Order details and line items for the order being returned
- The customer information needed to process a return (name, email, shipping address, order history)
- Product and variant details, inventory levels, and locations, for restocking
What Returnwell stores
- Return and exchange requests, their status, reasons, and any photos a customer uploads
- Your return policy rules and email templates
- A Shopify session token used to authenticate your store
Reading and writing
Returnwell creates and processes returns, refunds, and inventory adjustments in your store using Shopify's returns and refunds APIs. These write actions are core to the app and happen when you approve a return.
Customer personal data
Returnwell processes your customers' personal data because returns require it. A returning customer's name, email, shipping address, and order details are used to authenticate the return, communicate about it, and issue a refund or exchange. Customers may enter this information on a hosted return portal served at your store's domain. Returnwell acts as a data processor on your behalf: this data is not sold or used for advertising, is used only to handle the return, and is retained only as long as needed for the return and your legal obligations, then deleted on uninstall or on request.
Where data is stored
App data is hosted on infrastructure in the European Union. It is encrypted at rest and transmitted over HTTPS.
Third parties
- Shopify, which provides the store data through its Admin API and processes billing.
- The hosting provider that runs the application and its database.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Retention and deletion
When you uninstall Returnwell, its data for your store is deleted, and we honour Shopify's shop-redaction request by removing any remaining records. You can request deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the data held about you or your store. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will respond within one business day.
